3D Reversi Walkthrough
Reversi (also known as Othello) is a popular strategy game played on an eight-by-eight board. Reversi is brought to the Web with 3D Reversi. This brain game uses all of the rules of reversi and features excellent three-dimensional graphics.
Like reversi, the object of 3D Reversi is to have more pieces on the board than your opponent when the game is over. There are two AI difficulty levels: easy and hard. Unfortunately, you cannot play this board game against a human opponent. There are no time limits for moves, but your time is logged. Try to complete the game as quickly as possible for a real challenge!
You are placed in control of the white pieces and make the first move in 3D Reversi (unlike real reversi where the black pieces make the first move). Legal moves are moves where there is a straight line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) between the piece that is to be placed and another piece of that color with one or more of the opponent's pieces on that line. Any of the opponent's pieces that are on the line will be flipped and "captured". To place a piece in this brain game, simply click on the square that you wish to place the piece on. If you cannot make the move that you have chosen, no move will be made and you will have to choose another. The game ends when there are no legal moves left.
Like most strategy board games, 3D Reversi requires the cognitive ability of anticipation. You will have to anticipate your opponent's moves and think ahead to counter them if you want to take control of the board. Since you are playing against the AI, theory of the mind and the ability to delve into the plans of your opponent does not truly apply in this brain game. The AI does not always make the same moves either (especially on the hard difficulty setting), so pattern recognition does not help much.
If you are looking for a straightforward reversi game with lovely graphics and challenging AI, then give 3D Reversi a try! The only thing lacking is this board game is two-player functionality!
